About Us

Jason, Owner.

Aged 27, born and bred in France, I have a total of 12 years experience in the hairdressing industry and hold the title of Barbercraft NZ Master Section Shave Winner 2017.

I love what I do and after completing 4 years of hairdressing studies, 4 years of salon experience, 2 years of freelance work as a barber, and 2 years working in a barbershop, I finally had the opportunity to create my own unique French inspired shop. The French Barber is a professional and warm environment that I guarantee you will leave smiling and feeling confident that you have had the highest quality grooming experience.

Jamie, Men's Stylist.

Born in England and bred in Nelson, I have 2 years of experience in the Barbering Industry.

I was introduced to Barbering by a Frenchman, as traditional as they come. The French foundation of my barbering knowledge has definitely shaped the barber I am today - professional and attentive. I look forward to collaborating with you in an enjoyable experience at The French Barber.

Alan, Men's Stylist.

Born in South America, I grew up in France where I completed my hairdressing certificate. I then head off to Australia where I started my career in barbering.

I really love what I do as it allows me to meet new people and continuously improve myself. The great part is that it also allows me to work and travel. It really is more of a passion then a job, and I look forward to sharing it with you.

Kevin, Men's Stylist.

Born and bred in Argentina, I have been traveling around the world for two years. I am a professional Hairdresser with 6 years of experience in the industry and almost 2 years of experience in barbering. I decided to combine my passion for traveling and barbering so that I could have a lifestyle that allows me to keep developing my career while being able to explore the world and meet the locals.

Come in and see me to enjoy a coffee and a chat -  the haircut is included.

Aaron, Men's Stylist.

Born and raised in England, I spent a few years travelling and working in graphic design prior to returning home to retrain at the world leading barber academy, London School of Barbering. After completing my courses, I worked for a well established barber chain in the UK before coming to New Zealand for a change of scenery.

I found The French Barber while looking for somewhere I could trust to get my own hair cut, and enjoyed the experience so much that I applied to work here. The atmosphere at The French Barber is a unique find in Wellington, and I look forward to welcoming you.

Samy, Men's Stylist.

Hi, Samy here! Qualified in France, I learnt the barbering trade from the Parisian master of the traditional French shave and scissor cut. I then worked for Sébastien Paco at Gentleman and Gentleman 1919, the best men's hair salons in France. In addition to this, I have also worked as a barber on the street providing haircuts to the homeless.

I'm very happy to be here in New Zealand!

Matthieu, Men's Stylist.

I was born in France in Mont Saint Michel, where I completed my Certificate and Masters Craftsmanship in hairdressing. My interest in men's hairdressing was inspired by my uncle, who has been a barber for 40 years. It is thanks to him and a diverse group of barbers that I have been able to acquire the skills to pursue my own career in barbering.

Can't wait to see you at The French Barber!
